The Next CCC Lecture Brings us the Excellent Historian Michal Frankl
27 February, 2020
Historian Michal Frankl will be the second guest of the CCC Series - inter-disciplinary lectures organized by the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education - Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) in cooperation with the Center for Theoretical Study (CTS).
In 2019, Michal Frankl obtained an ERC Consolidator Grant for his research project on the history of refugees and citizens in the East-Central Europe region in the 20th century.
His lecture, taking place on Wednesday, 4 March at CERGE-EI, is entitled "East-Central Europe: A place of refuge in the 20th century?".
"Taking aim at existing historiography, it will explore the tension between the pride over protection extended to selected groups and the general understanding of these countries as places of emigration,” is how Frankl sums up the topic of his lecture.
"Building on empirical examples from Czechoslovak history, it will explore how refugees and refugee policies were written into the texture and law of the nation states in the region, and align them with current state-of-the-art research in refugee history," he added.
The lecture will be held in English and translation is not provided. You are kindly asked to register for the event.
