Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences (LCAS) is a public research institution whose purpose is to conduct scientific research in the area of scientific information and library science, to establish a research-oriented information infrastructure, and to provide library-based, informational, and reprographic services to the institutes of Czech Academy of Sciences and other users active in research and science. Closure of the library from Thursday, 22 October 2020, until further notice
Due to the emergency measures issued by the Czech Government, the library will be closed from Thursday, October 22, 2020, until further notice.
Remote access to electronic information resources remains available for users.
It will be possible to make new online registrations to membership for remote access or to extend an expired membership.
Loan period of current loans that expires on October 22 or later will be extended by 14 days from the current expiration date.
The loans can be returned into book return box located next to the entry to the pharmacy at the address Vodičkova 792/40, Prague 1. Read more »
New items: September 2020
New items overview for the September – it’s possible to view the whole list at once or have it sorted out by fields of knowledge.
A selection of ten interesting new arrivals is available for browsing in the study (without having to order them in advance) and it simultaneously possible to browse these publications in digitalised form on the computer reserved for work with the Digital library of Czech Academy of Sciences. You can leaf through them there and possibly print out parts of them. Read more »
Current information on the operation of the library
Opening hours are adjusted until further notice: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. (including individual study rooms).
Library user and visitors are required to wear a face mask and to disinfect their hands before entering the study room. Wearing gloves when handling books is suggested.

SUMMER LIBRARY CLOSURE
Until Friday July 31, 2020 the library will be open:
Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The LIBRARY will be CLOSED from August 1, 2020 until August 30, 2020
During the closure of the library, the loan services won’t be available. The main study, Computer Study, Research Room and Cloak room will be closed.

New version of the library regulations
In connection with the availability of a second book return box, the change in access to historical books and changes in service fees, a new version of the Library regulations becomes effective on 8 June 2020.
