Abstract: The quantization of systems with constraints often causes
difficulties. After a brief review of the classical theory of
constraints, some comments on common methods
for dealing with quantum constraints are offered, followed by an
introduction to the projection operator method. Recent examples are
presented, one dealing with resonant charge transfer, the other with a
toy model of quantum gravity.
