Join the EMS as an Individual Member
Individuals can apply and renew the EMS membership by paying fees online using our online submission form.
Join the EMS through an EMS member society
Membership in the EMS can be organised via the European mathematical societies, which are corporate members of EMS. Joining EMS as an individual member through an EMS member society is simple: one just pays the extra amount (25 euro) for the EMS membership when paying the regular membership fee of the local society or online using our online submission form. Please address an informal application to your national society.
Join the EMS as a student
Three years' free membership is offered to a student (PhD or junior) when a short recommendation letter by the supervisor or by the head of department has been received at the EMS secretariat. Free membership gives rise to all membership benefits but it does not include a printed copy of the Newsletter. Please fill out the application form (PDF) and email it together with a recommendation letter from your supervisor to:

Join the EMS as reviewer of Zentralblatt für Mathematik
In the case of countries where the national mathematical society is not a member of the EMS or where there are economic reasons which make the payment of the membership fee through the national society difficult, Zentralblatt may arrange this payment from the reviewer's account as far as money is available there. The rates for the fee under these special conditions for reviewers of Zentralblatt are:
- 25 euros for persons belonging to a corporate EMS member society.
- 37 euros for persons belonging to a reciprocity EMS corporate member.
- 50 euros for persons not belonging to any EMS corporate member.

Join the EMS as a resident of a developing country
If you are a resident of a developing country from this list, you may apply for membership at a reduced fee comprising 5 €. This type of membership gives rise to all benefits but it does not include a printed copy of the Newsletter. Please pay your fees online.
Lifetime membership
If you want to become a lifetime member of the EMS paying a lump sum at a certain age, the fee during 2019-2020 would be as follows:
290€ for persons of age 60 − 64
250€ for persons of age 65 − 69
210€ for persons of age 70 − 74
170€ for persons of age 75 − 79
The person should be over 60 years of age. If the age is over 75 the fee is reduced by 40€ for each 5 years.
Please send an email indicating your age to the EMS Office (ems-office@helsinki.fi) and you will be sent an invoice for a direct bank transfer.
