Political Situation

In February 2016, citizens of the Czech Republic evaluated how satisfied they are with the situation in 29 selected areas of public life. The best evaluated areas are the selection of goods and services (75% satisfied) and culture (67%).

In September 2015, citizens of the Czech Republic evaluated how satisfied they are with the situation in 29 selected areas of public life.

In March, the Public Opinion Research Centre examined how citizens of the Czech Republic look at different situations that may be a reason for resignation of a public official or a politician from his post.

In March survey the Public Opinion Research Center examined how the inhabitants of the Czech Republic assess the political culture of public officials and politicians: members of the governments, deputies, senators, representatives of regional and local self-governments and politicians from current parliamentary political parties.

In February 2015, citizens of the Czech Republic evaluated how satisfied they are with the situation in 29 selected areas of public life. The best evaluated areas are the selection of goods and services (75% satisfied) and culture (69%).

In its regular survey in February 2015 the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on question, who were the most significant people in public life in the Czech Republic in 2014.

In January 2014, citizens of the Czech Republic evaluated how satisfied they are with the situation in 29 selected areas of public life. The best evaluated areas are the selection of goods and services (75% satisfied) and culture (61%). The worst evaluated items are corruption (88% dissatisfied), unemployment (85%),  economic crime (80%), the situation in public finances (68%), and the area of social security (69%).

In June 2013, citizens of the Czech Republic evaluated how satisfied they are with the situation in 29 selected areas of public life. The best evaluated areas are the selection of goods and services (76 % satisfied) and culture (61 %). The worst evaluated items are corruption (87 % dissatisfied), economic crime (79 %), unemployment (78 %), the situation in public finances (73 %), the political situation (70 %) and the area of social security (66 %).

Czech citizens are critical when talking about political culture of most of politically active people. The exception are members of Municipal Councils. In this case prevails positive evaluation (57%/34 %) . One of the worst evaluation got the political culture of members of Chamber of Deputy (12%/86 %).

According to about three quarters of Czech citizens (77 %) political arguments, problems and scandals are common and occur in other democracies too, although major part of the addressed respondents (81 %) expressed their opinion that these argumentations and scandals discredit us abroad. Significant part of Czech citizens (88 %) agreed that there is a need to inform public about the problems, argumentations and scandals, because the politicians need to be under control of public. Public opinion of political culture is also expressed in the opinion, that the political disputations and scandals serve only to settle one's account (this opinion is held by 70% of the respondents). More than half of the respondents (56%) think that the problems are exaggerated by journalists.
