Closure of the study room and transition to self-service loans from Friday, December 18

Due to government regulations, the study room will be closed from Friday, December 18. Current registered users with off-site membership will be allowed to make off-site loans of documents ordered in advance from the user account. At the time of the library visit, the documents must be ready for collection – users will receive an e-mail notification. The order status can be also monitored in the user account.
There can be present only 1 person at a time in the library. Please maintain a social distance of 2 meters (6 feet) while waiting for the entry.
Opening hours will be limited from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other on-site services remain unavailable.
Loaned documents can be returned only into the book return box Vodičkova (accessible nonstop) or into the book return box located behind the entrance door to the building (accessible Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.) Read more »

Christmas holidays – opening hours change

The library will be closed from 23 December 2020 to 3 January 2021.
Unless the government measures change, the library will be open from Monday, 4 January 2021, under the same conditions as now.
The book return box located in the library building will be available on working days (23 and 28 – 31 December) from 6 a. m. to 8 p. m., return box Vodičkova is accessible nonstop. Returned documents will be removed from the user account on 4 January 2021. Read more »

Beginning on Thursday, December 3, 2020, the study room will be reopened with certain restrictions

Beginning on Thursday, December 3, 2020, the study room will be open to the public. The number of seats is limited to 73 in the study room and 7 in the computer study in order to keep social distance. Individual study rooms can be used during opening hours.
Opening hours are limited to Monday–Friday, 9 a. m. to 6 p. m.
Rare books can be studied under supervision from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday to Friday.
Library users and visitors are required to wear a face mask, keep a distance of 2 metres and disinfect their hands before entering the study room or cloackroom. Disinfectant and gloves are provided near the entrance and next to the loan desk and self-service loan device.
Inter-library services and Reprography and bookbinding centre operate without restrictions. Read more »

Partial restoration of loan services

From Monday, November 23, current registered users with off-site membership will be allowed to make off-site loans of documents ordered in advance from the user account. At the time of the library visit, the documents must be ready for collection – users will receive an e-mail notification. The order status can be also monitored in the user account. Documents can be ordered from Thursday, November 19.

Opening hours will be limited from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other on-site services remain unavailable.

Closure of the library from Thursday, 22 October 2020, until further notice

Due to the emergency measures issued by the Czech Government, the library will be closed from Thursday, October 22, 2020, until further notice.
Remote access to electronic information resources remains available for users.
It will be possible to make new online registrations to membership for remote access or to extend an expired membership.
Loan period of current loans that expires on October 22 or later will be extended by 14 days from the current expiration date.
The loans can be returned into book return box located next to the entry to the pharmacy at the address Vodičkova 792/40, Prague 1. Read more »

SUMMER LIBRARY CLOSURE

The LIBRARY will be CLOSED from August 1, 2020 until August 30, 2020
During the closure of the library, the loan services won’t be available. The main study, Computer Study, Research Room and Cloak room will be closed.

Beginning on Monday 1. 6. 2020 the study room is once again opened to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The number of seats is limited to 73 in the study room and 7 in the computer study in order to keep social distance. Individual study room are again available for reservation and can be used during opening hours. Rare books can be studied under supervision from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday to Friday.

Library user and visitors are required to wear a face mask and to disinfect their hands before entering the study room. Wearing gloves when handling books is suggested. Disinfectant and gloves are provided near the entrance and next to the loans desk and self-checkout.

Restoration of the loan services from Monday, April 27

From Monday, April 27, users will be allowed to make off-site loans of documents ordered in advance. The opening hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The study room (including the computer study room, catalogues, individual study rooms and the research room) remains closed.

Books and journals intended for on-site loan only will be available to you for a maximum of 30 minutes. During this time, you can copy, scan or take a photo of the materials. Documents available for off-site loans can be borrowed within a few minutes using the selfcheck; you need to have an off-site membership if you want to take the books home.

For the health and safety of all, it is required to wear a face mask and gloves and use the hand disinfection before entering the library. Disinfection and disposable gloves will be available in front of the door to the improvised loan desk. Stay in the library will be allowed for a maximum of 4 people keeping a distance of at least 2 meters and it’s limited only to the time necessary to make the loan.
