The New Coronavirus - concerns, media and information - Our Society - December 2020

In its special research, the Public Opinion Research Center focused on concerns about the spread of coronavirus, how Czech citizens orientate themselves in information about a new type of coronavirus, and also how often they follow information about it in the media. In connection with the spread of a new type of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, four-fifths (80%) of Czech citizens fear the deterioration of the economic situation in the Czech Republic, a comparable proportion (76%) are concerned about the health of their loved ones, on the contrary people are least worried about supply collapses (29%) and then about insufficient hospital capacity (47%).

Satisfaction with life and with his various aspects - Our Society - special - December 2020

Satistifaction with all the examined aspects of life significantly prevails in the population.

People are the most satisfied with personal relationships (average value 7.45 on a scale from 0 completely dissatisfied to 10 completely satisfied), with life in general (7.13) and with a feeling of security (7.10).

Compared to previous surveys from May and June 2020, the overall level of satisfaction with life and the level of satisfaction with all its examined aspects has decreased.

The New Coronavirus – media and information - Our Society - November 2020

In its special research, The Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the media coverage of the coronavirus crisis and how Czech citizens orientate themselves in information about the new type of coronavirus. Three-fifths (60%) of Czech citizens think that the amount of information on how to protect themselves from coronavirus infection is adequate, about a tenth (11%) of society think that there is little information in this regard, and more than a quarter (27%) of citizens believe that there is even more or too much information.

In its June 2020 survey, the Our Society series included a battery of questions on issues of energy. Within that battery, we focused on a new avenue of development of nuclear energy in the world, namely the so-called small modular reactors.

Only slightly under one-fifth of citizens have ever heard of the technology of socalled small modular reactors.

Czech Public Opinion on Nuclear Energy – June 2020

In its June 2020 survey, the Our Society series included a battery of questions on issues of nuclear energy. The survey examined public opinion about whether the proportion of nuclear energy in electricity production should increase or decrease in future, what people think about building a new unit of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station (DNPS), whether or not they are concerned about the use of nuclear energy in the country, and whether they have confidence in the government’s decisions about the development of nuclear energy.

Czech Public on Local Food – Food 2020

The CVVM also included a large block of questions concerning local food in the special Food 2020 research focused mainly on food waste, shopping, and consumer behaviour of Czech citizens.

Only three-tenths (30%) of the public in the Czech Republic were interested in the topic of local food, while the majority (69%) were rather not interested or not interested at all.

The most important criterion, which, according to the Czech public should be met by the "local food" label, is the information about the place where it was produced (20%) and subsequently that it should be what is considered a quality food (16%).

Czech Public on Organic Food – Food 2020

The CVVM also included a block of questions concerning organic food in the special Food 2020 research which was focused mainly on food waste and shopping as well as the consumer behaviour of Czech citizens.

Just under a quarter (24%) of the public in the Czech Republic is interested in the topic of organic food, while 76% are rather not interested or not interested at all. On top of that, compared to 2017, the interest decreased slightly.

In general, women who also buy organic food more often as well as people aged 20 to 44 and respondents who rate the standard of living of their household as good, are more interested in the topic of organic food.
