Typical habitats of Dorcadion (Acutodorcadion) grande are grasslands on piedmonts in middle part of northern macroslope of Zailyiskiy Alatau Mts. in altitudes 1 000 — 1 800 m (Заилийский Алатау, South-Eastern Kazakhstan). Larvae feed on roots of various grass species (Poaceae), including fescue (Festuca spp.). Adults feed on above-ground parts of the same plant species. In warm sunny weather, males are actively moving in search of virgin females. Females are less active and usually staying under plants. [❖]

The depicted living beetles were photographed in Kaskelen river valey (1800 m, Zailyiskiy Alatau, Kazakhstan) on May 2015. The mounted beetles were captured in the same locality (altitude 1500 m) on May 2, 2016.Collected by P.Jelínek and S.Dementiev
