Mgr. et Mgr. Katarína Mašterová, Ph.D.

Katarína Mašterová is a co-investigator for the five-year NAKI II project entitled Josef Sudek and the Photographic Reproduction of Artworks: From Private Art Archive to Representation of Cultural Heritage (Sudek Project; 2016–2020). She is one of the founding members of IAH's Photography Research Centre. Along with Vojtěch Lahoda and Hana Buddeus, she prepared the symposium and corresponding book Instant Presence: Representing Art in Photography (2017). As part of the Sudek Project, she co-curated the exhibitions Josef Sudek: V šeru chrámu (2016), Josef Sudek: V ateliéru (2016) and Josef Sudek: Topografie sutin (2018; including the touring versions of the exhibition in collaboration with Czech centres abroad). In 2019, she prepared the exhibition  Svoboda + Palcr: Vidět sochy at the Gallery of Fine Art in Cheb. In her research, she addresses the history and theory of twentieth-century photography with a special focus on reproductions of artworks (primarily sculptures and heritage monuments), the phenomenon of the photo archive, and the photographers Josef Sudek and Jan Svoboda. She co-founded and led Galerie K4, a nonprofit gallery focusing on student works (2010–2014).
