Mgr. Hana Buddeus, Ph.D.

Researcher at the Department of Art of the 19th-21st Centuries

Hana Buddeus studied art history and French at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague (MA) and art theory and history at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (Ph.D.). She has been working at the IAH CAS since 2016 as co-investigator for the five-year project focusing on Josef Sudek and his photographs of artworks (WEB). Along with Vojtěch Lahoda and Katarína Mašterová, she edited the book Instant Presence: Representing Art in Photography (2017). In 2017, her dissertation was published under the title Zobrazení bez reprodukce? Fotografie a performance v českém umění 70. let 20. století [Representation without Reproduction? Photography and Performance in 1970s Czech Art]. She led the Galerie AMU in Prague (2013–2015) and co-curated several editions of the Fotograf Festival.
