The Creator as the Subject of Art History

This publication is the 6th volume of contributions from the regular congresses of art historians, organized by the Czech Association of Art Historians. The topic of the 6th Congress, which took place from 20 to 21 September 2018 at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, is reflected here in a wide range of approaches in five thematic units: I. Author’s apology; II. Does every work of art have an author?; III. The artist, the work of art and “co-authorship” of the scene; IV. The personal narratives and self-styling of artists; V. Forgery, fiction, mystification, or Joke, satire, irony, and deeper meaning. Each thematic block is preceded by an introductory study written by experts in the field.
