The Digital Library of the CAS with FULL ACCESS for researchers, pedagogical staff and students until June 2021

Based on a new agreement between the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Association of Czech Booksellers and Publishers, the unlimited access to the digital collection has been extended for students, teachers, and researchers until 30 June 2021.
Students, teachers and researchers have access to all works protected by copyright law, including the latest literature, for the next 5 months, just as they have done so far. Read more »

The “on-line access for 1 CZK” event ends

Today, April 27 at 9 a.m., we are opening a study room in a restricted mode for making loans of printed documents. The special offer “on-line access for 1 CZK” will be no longer available. For remote access to electronic information sources, you can still register for a fee according to the price list, i.e. for 150 CZK.

An online Encyclopedia of book in Czech Middle ages and Early modern period

Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences and National Library of the Czech Republic published an Encyclopedia that covers the period from the beginnings of the Czech book culture in the Middle Ages to the disappearance of the hand press book at the beginning of the 19th century. It contains both explanatory entries for both individual book history phenomena and development. It is based on 2400 entries from an encyclopedia focused on a printed book (Petr Voit, Book Encyclopedia: older printing press and related fields between the 15th and the beginning of the 19th century, Prague 2006).

JSTOR – 11 new collections available now
Emerald – ALL Emerald magazines available due to transtition to the “Premier” version
Cambridge Journals online – Access to the complete magazine production of Cambridge University Press
Oxford Journals Online – Access to the complete magazine production of Oxford University Press

Until 08. 11. 2017 you can use the trial access to the full-text databases “A very short introduction” and “Oxford Handbooks online” from the Oxford University Press. “A very short introduction” series is the best way to to get ahead in a new subject quickly. “Oxford Handbooks Online Collection” contains handbooks for selected subjects. Within the trial books on these topics are available: Classical Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Law, Linguistics, Literature, Music, Business and Management, Religion

Library Press Display recently as PressReader

From January 2017 the Library PressDisplay database will be available on a new platform PressReader. PressReader introduces new user interface, content and availability remain the same.
PressReader is a database containing full texts of more than 6,150 newspapers and magazines from more than 100 countries around the world, including the Czech Republic. Older editions are available, generally for a period of three months, in addition to current editions.

News in the library collection – imagebank Britannica ImageQuest

In the Library of the ASCR you can now access to imagebank Britannica Image Quest, containing more than 3 million photos and images. Database Image Quest is available both in the library and remotely. Read more »

Trial acces to the all electronic journals and e-books from Emerald Publishing

From April 1st to May 7th have users of the Library of the CAS and all CAS´ institutes accessible all electronic journals and ebooks from EmeraldPublishing. Read more »
