The Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences is looking for an experienced scientist to join the Condensed Matter Theory Department to complement its research directions and strengthen the team.

Job description

  • develop and pursue an independent research program in condensed-matter theory or in theory applicable to materials science and engineering
  • build and maintain a research group by securing external funding (funding for one postdoc position will be provided by the Institute)

Your profile

  • PhD in condensed-matter physics, materials science, materials engineering, or quantum chemistry
  • research experience in the field (at least 6 years after earning PhD) at an Institution different from the one that granted the PhD degree
  • prior experience with group leadership and/or supervision of students is an advantage
  • excellent spoken and written English

Review of applications will start on June 21. The starting date is flexible between September 2021 and January 2022. The contract is offered initially for five years with prospects of long-term extension pending positive evaluation after the initial period.
