I am an applied economist with interests in health and labor economics. I am currently associated professor in economics at the faculty of economics of Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) in Lugano where I also serve as the director of Center for Economic and Political research on aging (CEPRA).

I obtain my PhD in Econometrics in 2011 from University or Rome Tor Vergata. In 2010, I have been visiting researcher at University College of London (UCL).

I am research fellow of IZA (Institute of Labor Economics), of the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) and of the Munich Center of Economics of Ageing (MEA) at the Max Planck Institute in Munich where I worked as Senior Researcher (Post-Doc) in 2011 and 2012.

From 2015 to 2019, I was the scientific director of the Lugano SSPH+ Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics and Management that takes place every year at the end of August.

I am a founding and board member of the Swiss Society of Health Economics (sggö) which runs the SSPH+ International Doctoral Courses in Health Economics and Policy.

In June 2017, I organized the first CEPRA-NBER Workshop on Aging and Health joint with Massimo Filippini (USI and ETH Zurich) and Jonathan Skinner (Darmouth College and NBER). This workshop takes place in Lugano every two years.
