Economics Discovery Hub Continues Online
17 April, 2020
The Spring Semester of the Economics Discovery Hub (EDH) is taking place online. We have successfully started with the Mastering Excel Basics course that is in full swing right now. The very popular Introduction to Python course and two more talks from the Talking Economics! series are ready to go.
Labor Economics is the topic of the third Talking Economics! series session that is planned for next Tuesday. CERGE-EI faculty member Štěpán Jurajda will talk about cross-country comparison of wage rates based on the McWage Index. CERGE-EI junior researcher Ekaterina Travova is going to focus on the link between the performance evaluation system and the fraudulent behavior of police officers in Russia.
The series will close with a talk on Inattention in Economics with CERGE-EI faculty member Filip Matějka and PhD candidate Vladimír Novák as the speakers.
Registration for both talks is required. You can also read our blog to remind yourself of the previous sessions of Talking Economics! that brought up interesting topics like privacy on the internet and social media, the role of history in the election campaigns of populist parties, and the situation of (female) workers in the Bangladeshi garment sector.
Students can also register for the Introduction to Python course, which will be held in mid-May. The other EDH courses, originally planned for this semester, such as the Elevator Speech (Make an Impression in Two Minutes) and mental health workshops will take place in Fall 2020.
