Economist Prof. Jaromír Vepřek Passed Away

With profound regret, CERGE-EI announces that Prof. Jaromír Vepřek, one of the co-founders of the present-day Economics Institute and long-term researcher and valued member of the scientific community of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, passed away on February 22, 2021, aged nearly 94 years. He is best known among fellow scientists for his work on application of systems analysis methods in the management of health care.

A New Library Drop Box at the Jan Kmenta Library Entrance

The Jan Kmenta Library newly invites library subscribers to return borrowed books and other items to the drop box that has been installed in front of the library entrance in the foyer of Schebek Palace.

People of CERGE-EI: Meet Our Alumni

Vladimír Novák, one of our recent PhD graduates, has already achieved a great deal in the field of economic research. Last year, Vladimír successfully defended his dissertation under the supervision of Filip Matějka and lent his hand to participate in the IDEA Anti COVID-19 initiative, which issued many studies on matters related to the coronavirus outbreak. In a new blog interview, we asked him several questions regarding his position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Milan, and his current and past research projects.
