Rescheduled: Fair Taxation in a Mobile World as the Topic of the 2020 EEAG Report
3 March, 2020
The presentation will be rescheduled. New date to be confirmed soon. Thank you for your understanding.
What fair taxation looks like in an increasingly connected and mobile world is the main question raised by the annual Report on the European Economy by the EEAG (European Economic Advisory Group) that will be presented at CERGE-EI on 27 March.
Our distinguished guest Clemens Fuest, President of the ifo Institute for Economic Research, will sum up the key findings of this year's report. CERGE-EI faculty member Marek Kapička, whose expertise is macroeconomics and public finance, will add his comments.
The authors of the renowned report address the rapid digital and technological transformation of the world brought about by companies like Facebook, Apple, Uber, Google, and others with a similar business model. The way these companies have taken over the world market has brought inevitable changes in the way we live, work, and do business.
This development, be it positive or negative, represents a significant challenge to the current taxation systems that are mostly based on national policies.
The report also focuses on the increasingly important topic of the regulation of data privacy and data security.
As usual, the EEAG report includes an overview of the past and future macroeconomic conditions in the world economy and recommendations for Europe.
The presentation will take place on Friday, 27 March, 2020 at 11:00 at CERGE-EI. You are cordially invited to join us. Please register as the seats are limited.
