In December 2011, Public Opinion Research Centre enquired about health care and health care system. We were interested in satisfaction of citizens with health care system in the Czech Republic and public opinion on issues in specific areas of the health care system. With health care is satisfied 34 % citizens, unsatisfied 35 %.

Public opinion on the issue of HIV/AIDS

In May, the CVVM devoted to HIV/AIDS. Two thirds of Czechs believe that AIDS currently poses for the Czech Republic a problem. A majority of Czech citizens (57%) believe that the relevant institutions engaged in AIDS issues adequately. The vast majority of Czechs (81%) are not afraid of HIV infection.

Citizens on Splitting of Health Care into "Standard" and "Above-Standard"

According to June survey of Public Opinion Research Centre, 35% of Czechs approve the government's plan to split the health care into "standard" health care, which would remain free (or more precisely paid from existing compulsory public health insurance), and "above-standard", which would be paid directly by patients, 60% oppose it.

Leisure time

Part of the research made during November last year was devoted to the topic of free time. Addressing citizens should estimate the amount of free time on weekdays and on weekends Then respondents were asked how they spend their leisure time. We also asked the information how often they engaged some leisure activities.

Czech Public on Healthcare - December 2009

According to December survey 31 % of Czechs are satisfied with Czech healthcare system, 34 % expressed their dissatisfaction with it and the same share says to be neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. Most problematic aspect of healthcare in Czech Republic according to citizens is funding of public health service. On the other hand least portion of citizens finds problems concerning availability of healthcare and relationships between doctors and patients.

Public about health system

In December 2008 CVVM investigated opinions of Czech public on situation in health department. We were interested not only in satisfaction of citizens with health system and quality of medical care, but also we probed attitudes to some concrete aspects of health service. Most problematic is according to Czechs funding of public health (74 %). On the other hand least citizens find problems concerning relationships between doctors and patients (26 %).
