Sumci z čeledi Sisoridae žijí v rychle tekoucích vodách různých částí Asie. Někteří z nich mají specifické adaptace umožňující přichycení k substrátu - přísavky z podélně zřasené kůže (přísavenky rodu Glyptothorax) či z příčných lamel (rod Pseudecheneis).

The catfishes of the family Sisuridae occur in rapidly flowing waters in various parts of Asia. In some of them, specific adaptations allowing them to catch at the substrate evolved. The morphological adaptations include suctional lengthwise folded skin (the genus Glypto-thorax) or crosswise running lamellas (the genus Pseudecheneis).
