Optical forces acting on plasmonic nanoparticles as a tool for SERS bioassays fabrication

The aim of this project is to develop a simple, sensitive, precise bioassay for detection of microbial samples. This sensor will be fabricated on the base of optical manipulation and Raman tagging. Optical manipulation of metalnanoparticles is of particular interest in view of the potential applications in biomolecular sensing by surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Raman tagging is a label based method that is considered an indirect technique where plasmonic nanoparticles are modified with specific organic Raman reporter molecules and target recognition elements to form SERS tags, which produce strong, characteristic Raman signals. For the bioassay fabrication well established cooperation with SERS experts is crucial.
