Summary

Scientific focus of the department
The main goal is to study the physical and chemical properties of low-dimensional molecular structures with atomic resolution by a combination of experimental and theoretical methods. In particular, we use advanced methods of low-temperature scanning microscopy in ultra-high vacuum supported by theoretical analysis using quantum mechanical simulations. Our long-term goal is the development of experimental and theoretical methods enabling advanced characterization of low-dimensional structures and the investigation of new physical and chemical phenomena.

The department consists of three research groups:

Nanosurf

Molecular transport group
