In the finals of the Young Physicists’ Tournament, a competition of secondary school students, our country will be represented by the Talnet team. They have won their participation in an even national round which due to the COVID-19 epidemics was held on-line. Also this year, the local rounds were organised with help of the Institute of Physics.
A photo taken by an electron microscope sent to a competition for the cover page of a prestigious journal Materials Today published by Elsevier brought success to our PhD student Karel Tesař.
At the moment, students can participate in an Internet round of the competition at the following website: www.talentovka.cz. During a three-day finale in October, twelve best competitors will check out the simulation of a scientific experiment at professional laboratories of the laser centres.
The conference and workshop were focused on the latest discoveries in the area of crystal growth, epitaxy, characterization and applications.
The nomination for the annual Otto Wichterle Premium is intended for outstanding young scientists up to the age of thirty-five employed at the Academy of Sciences who achieved top results in their fields.
The Talent Academy for the third time offered an opportunity for secondary schools students to try what it is like to work as researchers at professional laboratories.
Pavla Štenclová, Ph.D., received the Austin Barnes´ Prize for the best poster. The presented results were obtained during the research stay at the University of Ulm.
The best students will receive an internship offer to work in research teams to be able to get some more detailed insight into the research in laser physics as part of other activities.
The Otto Wichterle Award is a prestigious honour coming with a financial reward which has been awarded to excellent young scientists by the Czech Academy of Sciences since 2002.
