The Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ITAM CAS) announces, in accordance with Act No. 283/1992 coll. on the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (CAS), in the frame of Act No. 420/2005 coll. and the Statutes of CAS, a selection procedure for the position: researcher / research and development specialist with a university degree.
ITAM CAS is looking for an employee who will be involved as a member of an interdisciplinary
team in the research of building materials and structures. Research projects focus on basic
research with an application focus on the protection and preservation of historic buildings.
Depending on the background and experience, the employee will cooperate on
research related to historical lime technologies within the activities of the
Department of Lime Technologies
and the
Section of Applied Sciences for Cultural Heritage.
Currently ongoing projects:
- Possibilities of radiocarbon dating of historic mortars (2020-2022).
- Hidden beneath the surface, Archaeological terrains of Prague Castle, their protection and presentation in the modern world (2020-2023).
- PlaCe-ITN: Plasters and Ceramics Innovative Training Network, Material Study of Eastern Mediterranean Mortars, program MC H2020 (2021-2025)
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate is expected to have a Master’s degree in natural or material sciences, architecture, civil or chemical engineering. For the particular research requirements an interdisciplinary education on cultural heritage conservation, restoration or archaeometry is will be considered an advantage.
- Interest in research, completed doctoral studies (PhD) or wish to follow a PhD research is an advantage.
- Ability to formulate research aims and results in written form in Czech and English.
