Preparation of silicalite films (SFs), with tunable properties of their outer surfaces, supported on Ti-6Al-4V alloy coupons is proposed to get highly osteoconductive and biocompatible material suitable for fabrication of prostheses. The optimal properties of SF for this application are not yet known. Moreover, interpretation of the cell- SF interaction on molecular level is missing. The samples prepared and characterized in J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry will be tested in the Institute of Physiology by in vitro experiment with human osteoblast-like cells. The effect of tuned roughness in nano- and micro- scale on the cell-SF interaction will be discussed. Characterized SF will be further tested as supports of compact and highly diffusive phospholipid bilayers. These systems are prospective as models of real cell membrane. Their preparation is indispensible for discussion of the cell-artificial material interaction on molecular level. The results will be helpful for the development of novel material coatings for bone implants with optimized biocompatibility.
