On 1 November, a delegation of judges, assistant judges and other expert staff of the German Bundesverwaltungsgericht from Leipzig visited the Institute of State and Law.

Institute of State and Law of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position – postdoctoral researcher to the Centre for Climate Law and Sustainability Studies (CLASS), as a maternity leave substitute, for a part-time job 0.9, from January 2022.

Our project, Healthy Car - Improving air quality through environmentally conscious vehicle maintenance (3201400125) was selected for support at the call No. SGS-4 REINE “Environment, Ecosystems and Climate Change", which will be funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, and the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic.

SOLAIR 2021 (www.solairconference.com), which takes place on 9 - 10 September 2021, is a continuation of three successful conferences. This year's subtitle is Artificial Intelligence from the Perspective of Horizontal and Sectoral Legislation. Given the pandemic situation, the conference is organized as a completely virtual event.

The Faculty of Law of the Trnava University in Trnava in cooperation with the Institute of State and Law of the SAS and with the Institute of State and Law of the CAS is organizing the VII. international conference devoted to transfer of participation (shares) in companies.

On 7 September, the Czech Academy of Sciences holds a panel discussion titled „Elections and climate: what the future czech government should do?” On the occasion of the upcoming October parliamentary elections in our country. Hana Müllerová from the Centre for climate law and sustainability studies (CLASS) will present the topic from the legislative perspective. The event will be held in Czech, you can find more information on the facebook of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

At the end of June, a TEDx Narodni event was held in Prague, with the title We can change climate change: Countdown to a healthier future. The main theme of the event was climate crisis and the ways how to accelerate and increase the efficacy of the transition to a low carbon economy. The event was targeted at interconnecting experts from various fields and searching for the most efficient climate solutions.

Otto Wichterle Award presented to Institute of State and Law's researcher Jakub Drápal
The Otto Wichterle Award is an honour given by the Czech Academy of Sciences to stimulate and encourage selected, exceptionally outstanding, promising young scientists at the Czech Academy of Sciences for their remarkable contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge in a given area of science. The editors of the journal Právník announce this topic for issue 2/2022. Annotation of the intended contribution can be sent by June 3, 2021. Based on a preliminary commission assessment, the editors will contact the authors to prepare their article by October 18, 2021.

The Institute of State and Law of the CAS, Research Law Centre, is organizing an online colloquium Jurisdiction of Courts with Regard to Breaches of Rights on the Internet in the USA, taking place on 17 March 2021 from 18:30 to 20:00.

Within the JUSTDECARB project, our Centre for Climate Law and Sustainability Studies is organising an international conference on Climate Change and Human Rights. The conference will take place on 19 November 2021 at the Academy of Sciences, Prague, and online via Zoom. More details will be available in May 2021 on the JUSTDECARB project website here.

With its format, the “comments” section of the CLASS website is close to a blog. The authors pick up topical issues on climate policy and law in Czechia and comment on them.

Congratulations to Eva Balounova who received the first prize in the category of doctoral theses with her work on Legal regulation of climate protection following the adoption of the Paris Agreement.
