Postdoctoral /Research Associate position in Plant Cell Biology
The Institute of Experimental Botany, Czech Academy of Sciences – (IEB, www.ueb.cas.cz) conducts basic and applied research in plant biology, namely in plant genetics, physiology and biotechnology. The Laboratory of Pollen Biology (www.pollenbiology.cz) investigates plant reproductive development, sexual plant reproduction and male-female communication.
Starting date: beginning of 2021 (the position is open from January 1st, 2021)
The position is open for three years and renewable upon performance. The first review of applications begins November 15th, 2020. Selected applicants will be invited for interviews. Applications are welcome until the position is filled.
Main topics of the project will include the characterization of regulatory pathways controlling male gametogenesis and cell-cell communication in reproductive tissues, it will include also pollen developmental transcriptomics and proteomics (therefore strong bioinformatics background is necessary), and live cell imaging of fertilization events. The successful candidate will work within the framework of a CSF-funded collaborative research projects.
Requested qualification: We are looking for talented and motivated candidate with excellent communications skills and the ability to work in a team on an interdisciplinary project. PhD degree in natural sciences/life sciences (Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology). Good knowledge in standard techniques of plant biology, cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology are expected as well advanced bioinformatic skills. Experience in guidance of master and/or PhD students are assets.
