Jan Zápal has been an Associate Professor with Tenure since 2020 and an Assistant Professor from September 2012 until 2020 at CERGE-EI (under U.S. permanent charter). He has also been an Associate Professor at CERGE, Charles University, and a Researcher at the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He received his Master's degree from the Institute of Economic Studies at Charles University and a Ph.D. degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was a Visiting Student Researcher at the Californian Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins University, Bocconi University, and the University of Chicago. Jan was also at IAE-CSIC in Barcelona as a Post-doctoral Fellow. He held an Economica Scholarship awarded by the LSE Department of Economics and won the first prize in the Young Economist of the Year competition organized by the Czech Economic Society. His work was published in many periodicals, such as Theoretical Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behavior, Political Analysis.
