Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Roman Dykast, CSc.

Researcher and Head of the Department of Musicology, editor-in-chief of the journal Hudební věda.

Roman Dykast studied musicology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (MA 1987, PhDr. 1990). In 1994, he received the title Csc. at the Department of Aesthetics, Charles university. In 2007, he was appointed Associate Professor at the Faculty of Music, Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he had been teaching at the Department of Theory and History of Music since 1991 (and up until 2016). In 1996, he began to teach externally at the Department of Aesthetics, Charles University and since 2012, he has been employed there as part-time professor. He also taught at the Faculty of Humanities at University of Žilina (2017–2018) and the Faculty of Arts at University of Ostrava (2017–2019). Since 2019, he has been head of the Department of Musicology, IAH CAS and editor-in-chief of the journal Musicology. In his research, Dykast focuses on the history of musical aesthetics and music theory, and he also edits critical, annotated translations of historical treatises on composition.
