Ethics Committee

The ethics committee of the Czech Institute of Psychology predominantly reviews the research projects of our research professionals or other scientists with respect to the protection of the research participants. The committee operates based on documents that were approved by the Council of the Institute of Psychology of the ASCR: the institute’s guidelines for the protection of research participants and the rules and regulations for protecting people participating in research. The participant protection measures ensure that the research projects do not expose the participants to undue risk or hardship. The reviews are guided by an important principle of weighing the potential benefits of research projects against the potential risk or harm that a research can cause to its participants.

Upon the secretary’s proposal, the projects that pose minimal risk are approved by the committee’s chairperson. Projects that pose a higher than minimal risk have to be approved by the whole committee.

The members of the committee are voted in by the Institutional Board. It can consist of three to five members, out of which at least one has to be a member of an external institute. The current members of the committee are as follows:

Members

doc. PhDr. Filip Smolík, Ph.D., DSc. (chairman)
doc. PhDr. Martina Hřebíčková, Dr., DSc.
Mgr. Helena Klimusová, Ph.D. (external member)

Secretary

Mgr. Miroslav Filip, Ph.D. (secretary)
