The Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IM CAS) is seeking a researcher for the project “Qualitative Theory of the MHD and Related Equations” coordinated by professor Jiří Neustupa and funded by the Czech Science Foundation. We invite applications from candidates who have completed their PhD degree in Mathematics within the last 5 years. Applicants should have a good background in the modern theory of partial differential equations and related functional analysis, and mathematical analysis applied to problems of fluid dynamics (the Navier-Stokes equations). Knowledge of basic qualitative theory of the equations of magneto-hydro-dynamics is welcome. The successful applicant will be based at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, and perform mathematical research in the areas of the project. He/she is also expected to take part in activities of the Department of Evolution Differential Equations such as seminars and workshops organized by the group. No teaching is involved. The Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences is seeking a researcher with experience in the fields of mathematical logic, computational complexity and proof complexity. The Department of Mathematical Logic and Theoretical Computer Science, in which the successful applicant will work, has a long tradition of excellent research in these fields. We are looking for a young researcher who has achieved significant results in this area of research. This is a tenure track type position; after two years, the candidate will be evaluated and, in the positive case, offered a long-term position in accordance with the Career Development Rules of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The successful applicant will perform research in the Department of Mathematical Logic and Theoretical Computer Science. He or she will also take part in other activities such as organization and active participation at seminars, workshops, and conferences. No teaching is involved. We invite applications from candidates who have completed their PhD degree in Mathematics within the last 5 years (or will have completed it before the time of hiring). Applicants should have a good background in the theory of partial differential equations and mathematical analysis of fluid mechanics. Knowledge of the modern theory of partial differential equations, strong and weak solutions, and Sobolev spaces is necessary. Some experience with modeling fluid-structure interaction is welcome. The successful applicant will be based at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, and perform mathematical research in the areas of the project.
