The research is concentrated on the little known collection of medieval and Early Renaissance art in East Bohemia. The project aims to present the region's artistic monuments from the period of the last Přemyslids to the Jagiellonian era in a broader, Central-European context. The project's main outcomes include an exhibition and an extensive accompanying publication (2020) which will present valuable artworks from East Bohemia and the neighbouring Silesia. The exhibition will be the first to show East-Bohemian medieval art in such a wide scope, bringing together over 250 artifacts including a range of art forms (panel painting, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, applied arts, coins, written documents, seals and weapons). These artifacts attest to the high level of artistic sophistication in this region at the time and illustrate the changing artistic relations between East Bohemia and the neighbouring regions. The exhibition sheds light on cultural riches of medieval East Bohemia, a region that literally formed the “centre of the Czech Crown”  between the 13th and 16th centuries.
