Pre-Cycle 9 ALMA workshop - Prague

March 14-15, 2022, Prague, Astronomical Institute, Czech Academy of Sciences

The Czech ALMA Regional Centre node organizes a workshop aimed to prepare the local communities for the upcoming ALMA Cycle 9. The focus will be on the use of the ever-extending archive of ALMA scientific data and on working with the data. The workshop will be held in the Astronomical Insitute, Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. It is open to all ALMA users and prospective ALMA users, preference will be given to astronomers from the local community.


Venue: Astronomical Institute, CAS - Boční II 1401, Spořilov, Prague
Dates: 14 - 15 March 2022
Registration deadline: 1st March 2022.

Preliminary program:

Monday - March 14, afternoon (13:00 - 17:30)

Tuesday - March 15, morning & afternoon (09:30 - 17:00)

Lectures and tutorials will be given by members of the Czech ARC node.

Technical requirements:

Participants are expected to bring a laptop with the following software installed:

  1. Observing Tool
  2. CARTA v3.0-beta
  3. CASA (available as a Linux (.tar) or Mac (.dmg) file only. In case you think you won't be able to install CASA, please indicate it by ticking the "I need access to a linux computer" below the registration form.

Installation details and possible training datasets to be downloaded will be specified later by an email after registration.
