Markéta Kratochvílová studied musicology at the Faculty of Arts, Palacký University in Olomouc (MA 2003, Ph.D. 2011). She was a curator in the Department of Musical Instruments at the Czech Museum of Music and a music editor on Czech Radio. Between 2013 and 2018, she was employed as a researcher at the Cabinet of Music History at the Institute of Ethnology, CAS, conducting research into the oeuvre of Antonín Dvořák and Otakar Ostrčil and working on the project Otakar Ostrčil – Life and Work (GAČR). In 2019, she began working at the Library of Musicology at the Institute of Art History, CAS as a bibliographer. She publishes texts on Czech music of the 19th and 20th centuries. In 2019, Kratochvílová co-prepared an exhibition on Otakar Ostrčil at the Blatské Museum in Soběslav.
