About us

We are a group of volunteers and activists across organizations - ordinary people who are not indifferent to the situation emerging from Russia’s aggression towards the sovereign democratic state of Ukraine.

This initiative arose organically, evolving from a longstanding support for Ukraine, following the annexation of Crimea. Tensions have since escalated and became unavoidable to the public sphere on 19 February 2022, and this effort has been growing ever since. The independent information signpost “We Stand Behind Ukraine” is a joint project of this initiative, with support and coordination from Česko.Digital and solidpixels.

This is a living site which we are actively improving and updating. The directory is being created on a self-organizing basis in cooperation with a number of partners and volunteers. The list of people and organizations involved will be regularly updated. There has been a huge wave of solidarity and efforts to help, and coordinating so many people in a short amount of time is a challenge we are continuously working on. However, we have no doubt that we will be able to achieve it. Together, we are serving a higher purpose - to help manage the extreme situation in which the people of Ukraine, and the entire democratic world including the Czech Republic, find themselves.

War is an extremely powerful influence on all society. We are aware that, in this dire humanitarian situation and with emotions running high, there is a risk of chaos, panic or aggression. We also know that we all need a strong, calm voice that is both compassionate and supports society, to address the crisis in a substantive way. With the aim to be one such voice, we have put together a joint statement.

A list of participating organizations and volunteers is still being prepared, as we have been focusing on getting our initiative up and running. In the meantime, please read our joint statement.

We Stand Behind Ukraine only serves as a guide to offer help; to ensure that the content on this site remains relevant, we primarily compile links of organizations, institutions and long-term activities that provide support to Ukraine.

The marketplace on the Help Ukraine website is used for individual and one-off assistance offers.
