MUDr. Jan Bureš, DrSc. investigated the nature of memory in experimental laboratory animals as well as in humans. He discovered how a wave of spreading depression in the cerebral cortex temporarily impairs memory and how information is stored in other parts of the brain (hippocampus, etc.). His name is also given to the series of Bureš’ lectures that the Institute has been organising since 2013.
