Identification of the Original Owners of the Movable Cultural Assets

The methodology addresses the problem of culturally and historically valuable movable assets expropriated from the citizens of German nationality in the territory of Czechoslovakia, pursuant to the Presidential Decrees of 1945. While using the knowledge of the mechanism of expropriation of the said cultural goods (in part or in sets), the selection and subsequent distribution of individual items to institutions, and the laws governing further exchanges between these institutions, the methodology’s ultimate goal is to describe the most effective procedures and practices to identify the items’ place of origin and the last owner before confiscation.
