Within the framework of the Researchers at Risk initiative, the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences announces an international invitation for tenders for the following job positions:

Technical worker (mechanics/electronics) in Central Laboratory of Mechanics.

 
Requirements:  
  • masters or similar education in technical field (mechanical engineering, electronics)
  • good proficiency in English is required, proficiency in Czech or German is an advantage
  •   independence, diligence, responsibility, reliability, integrity
  • experience with research projects and relevant publication activity is an advantage
 
Responsibility and duties:  
  •   work in the Central laboratory of mechanics,
  • mechanical measurement, preparation of specimens, electronics,
  • collaboration on the implementation of various research projects and contracts,
  • collaboration on the formulation of new projects,
  • work on interdisciplinary research projects in the field,
  • presentation of results at various events, including international conferences

Researcher in Laboratory of X-ray tomography in the research Centre Telč.
 
Requirements:  
  • masters or PhD in technical field. PhD or started PhD study is an advantage

  • experience in programming (Python and C++)
  • experience in developing hardware and precise mechanical devices is an advantage

Research Assistant/Post-Doc/Doctoral Researcher in Laboratory of Biomechanics (Prague) in Department of Biomechanics with experience in experimental mechanics in field of cellular materials e.g., foams and lattices. The research activity will be focused mainly on development and instrumentation of advanced experimental techniques for description of deformation characteristics of cellular material using and improving in-house designed experimental devices in combination with numerical simulations.
 
Preferred skills and expertise:
  • research interest in cellular materials, especially bone tissue and scaffolds
  • team worker with the ability to perform independent research
  • expertise in experimental mechanics
  • skilled in parametric CAD (SolidWorks)
  • skilled in coding for data treatment (Python, C++, Matlab)
  • numerical simulations
  • experience in academic writing

Research Assistant/Post-Doc/Doctoral Researcher in Department of Biomechanics with experience in X-ray imaging. The work activity will be focused on operation of the CT scanners, development of imaging and calibration procedures, integration of new components of imaging systems (X-ray sources, detectors, positioning), automation of scanning procedures, and data treatment and postprocessing. The position combines technical, laboratory and research activities with spaces for own research topics.
Preferred skills and expertise:
  • research interest and expertise in X-ray imaging including development of imaging techniques and instrumentation of scanning devices
  • team worker with the ability to perform independent research
  • skilled in electronics
  • skilled in coding for controlling and data treatment (Python, C++, Matlab)
