IPERION HS and E-RIHS are organizing a series of webinars, a key source of state-of-the-art information on heritage science research, facilities, policy and impact. It contributes to developing a vibrant heritage science community and is intended for anyone involved in interdisciplinary heritage research. The theme of the 6/2022 webinar is “FAIR data: the challenges of interoperability”.

F.A.I.R. data: Findable – Accessible – Interoperable – Reusable, will be shortly introduced
and the importance of working towards FAIR data will be discussed, especially in Heritage Science.
Heritage Science is an extremely broad and interdisciplinary field which involves both people with
very different backgrounds as well as the most diverse techniques in every part of the planet with
the goal of studying, understanding and preserving material and immaterial natural and cultural
heritage. The challenges of making data interoperable using different characterization techniques
on material samples such as works of art, geological and archaeological samples will be
discussed.
