Research Programme 

 

The Department of Optical and Biophysical Systems recently established new research groups with the focus on Optical Biosensor Technologies, Biophysics or Functional Biointernfaces. We offer international and friendly environment in our teams. 

We are open for motivated people that want to learn novel laboratory techniques. The Research group Laboratory of Biophotonics at Division of Optics with a team leader Jakub Dostalek, Ph.D. is searching for a new colleagues. Our lab is working on exciting new developments and will offer a solid education to interns of all levels, so please apply regardless of your year and experience level.

  • Optical biosensor platform relying on plasmonically amplified sensor response and readout format enabling single molecule detection
  • Research on metallic nanostructures with tailored plasmonic properties for surface plasmon-mediated fluorescence
  • Working closely with physicists, chemical and materials engineers, biotechnologists, and molecular biologists in the partner organizations involved in the European project
  • Development of new analytical tools and their experimental validation for single molecule detection for liquid biopsy-based cancer diagnostics

Required profile

  • Masters or PhD in areas related to physics or biomaterials research
  • Experience in optical sensor techniques and optical engineering
  • Experience with multidisciplinary projects and interacting with partners from different scientific disciplines
  • Analytical thinking
  • Very good communication skills in English

Terms of employment

The initial period of employment is 1 year (with the possibility of an extension), starting from April 1st, 2022 or as otherwise agreed.
