Czech television – Ing. Vladimíra Petraková, PhD

Broadcast date
29.04.2021

A successful scientist and at the same time the mother of four small children? Nanotechnology expert Vladimíra Petráková shows that it works. She studied biomedical engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague. She spent three years as a Humboldt fellow at the Free University of Berlin. She currently works at the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS, where she is setting up her own research group thanks to the prestigious support of the Lumina Prize. She studies materials that behave completely differently at the nanoscale than we know them. Non-conductive materials become conductive, non-transparent become transparent, and get other colors. This opens up great possibilities.
