Summer library closure

The library will be closed from Monday, 1st August 2022, until Friday, 2nd September 2022.

The library will reopen from Monday, 5th September 2022.

During the library closure, the loan services will be unavailable. The main study, computer study, research room and cloakroom will be closed.

  • The loan period for documents will be extended beyond the library closure so any documents borrowed in July will be lent until the 5th September, (this includes automatic extensions of preexisting loans). In case of automatic extensions during the first half of August, the return date will be extended to the 12th September to give you more time to return the documents. However, if your membership expires during the closure, the loan period of your documents cannot be extended any further. For this reason we suggest checking your user account and extending your membership before the closure or returning your loans if needed. We also suggest checking the end date of your document loan period. If your loans were not extended to September, please contact us at servis@knav.cz.
  • Loans can be returned into book return box located to the right under the stairs beyond the entry door to the LCAS from Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. or you can use a book return box located on Wenceslas Square (Vodičkova street 792/40, Prague 1 – in an arcade between an Academia bookshop and a pharmacy – https://bit.ly/2UXTehD. NOTICE: Loans will be returned the next working day. It is not possible to get a return receipt.

Our services during library closure

  • Loan and reprographic services in the study won‘t be available.
  • Interlibrary services will be provided with limitations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday. Please contact us at +420 221 403 212 or use e-mail address mvs@knav.cz
  • Information, research and reference services will be provided with limitations, responses may take a few days. Please contact us at servis@knav.cz (or at reserse@knav.cz., if you are interested in research services).
  • Reprography and bookbinding services (in the basement) will be provided as usual (Mo-Thu, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.), any changes will be announced on our websites.

During the summer closure, you can still use the remote access to our electronic information resources. However, all online requests for new registrations or its prolongation will NOT be handled on a regular basis and their processing will take longer than usual. We’d like to recommend you to register/renew your membership before the closure.
