Future of the Czech participation on the Pierre Auger Observatory II (AUGERII.CZ)

Abstract

Pierre Auger Observatory is the largest experiment in the field of ultra-high-energy cosmic ray detection. After fifteen years of operation many questions that motivated the construction have been answered, yet many others emerged. Czech teams have been participating on the construction and operation of the Observatory since the very beginning and their contribution is well visible and recognized. The goal of this project is to modernize the laboratories and the computing center in order to ensure continuation of the top class international collaboration in the areas of data analysis and simulations, detector testing and calibrations, monitoring of the performance. Modernization of the infrastructure will enhance the role of the Czech teams in the international environment of the Observatory and provide a good quality instrumentation in the following years for the current scientists as well as for new students and postdocs. Quality of services provided to the Pierre Auger Observatory user institutions will be improved.

This project is co-financed by EU.
