The Josef Dobrovský Fellowship is intended for foreign researchers who are interested in Czech studies in a linguistic or geographic sense. The fellowship funds short-term visits by scholars for 15 to 45 days to an institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS). The costs of travel to and from the Czech Republic and health and travel insurance cannot be covered.

Applicants are nominated by directors of CAS Institutes based on consultations with and recommendations by their Boards. If you are interested in becoming a visiting researcher at the CAS Institute of Czech Literature, we would strongly recommend discussing your application in advance with our deputy director for international cooperation, Mag. Until 15 January, 2022, we are accepting applications for stays beginning in April 2022.
Applications for the Josef Dobrovský Fellowship should include the foreigner researcher’s professional CV and an outline of their proposed project. These may be submitted in Czech or English. Application forms can be found here. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.
JDF holders should preferably be working on projects that align with the research undertaken at our institute. We specialise in the literary history of the Czech lands (and Central Europe in general) and Czech literary thought from its origins to the present day.
