The new main building of IPP, the construction of which began in April 2020, was ceremonially opened on May 30, 2022 in the presence of the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and other important guests.
An important decision to build a new headquarters of IPP occurred in 2016, when the reconstruction of the original main building of IPP was found to have a high asbestos content. Because any of its reconstruction and extension would be very demanding, the management of IPP solved the situation by purchasing a plot of land between the Department of Tokamak and Department of Pulsed Plasma systems, which belonged to the Institute of Thermomechanics of the CAS and the Centre of Joint Activities of the CAS on which a modern five-storey building with offices and laboratories for approximately 100 workers was built, a multifunctional conference hall for 200 people and other facilities
