To: 2023-2-28

The aim of the project is research of new types of fiber amplifiers for wavelengths from the spectral region located beyond the L-band (1565-1610 nm). The gain medium will be thulium-doped optical fibers prepared by nanoparticle doping method developed originally at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. These amplifiers are intended for advanced telecommunications infrastructure applications with low latency, high bandwidth transmissions based on microstructured optical fibers. The advantage of such systems is also up to two orders of magnitude lower temperature dependence of the propagation time, which makes this infrastructure particularly suitable for ultrastable optical transmissions, e. g., in the area of precise time and frequency transmission.

IPE carries out fundamental and applied research in the scientific fields of photonics, optoelectronics and electronics. In these fields, IPE generates new knowledge and develops new technologies.
