Welcome to the Economics Institute

The Economics Institute (EI) of the Czech Academy of Sciences operates as a joint workplace, CERGE-EI, together with the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education (CERGE) of Charles University in Prague.

CERGE-EI is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of economic research and education. Despite its relatively small size, CERGE-EI has achieved global impact and reputation by producing cutting-edge economics research.

The workplace operates in US style, fully in English, and the international advisory board credibly enforces rigorous academic, hiring and promotion practices. The faculty have been regularly hired from leading US and European PhD programs. Economics know-how and expertise is shared especially via public lectures and research seminars of renowned visiting scholars, journal publications and policy-oriented studies.
