Wenda Zhang works as a postdoctoral researcher in the relativistic astrophysics group in Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences starting from October 2017. He got his Ph.D. in 2015 at Shanghai Astronomical Observatory and then worked as a postdoctoral researcher in MPA, Garching from 2015 to 2017.
His research is focused on accreting compact objects, including accreting neutron stars and stellar mass black holes, ultra-luminous X-ray sources, and active galactic nuclei, which are ideal objects to study strong gravity and accretion physics in action. His works consist of modeling X-ray spectrum of AGN corona, and spectral-timing analysis of X-ray emissions from neutron star/black hole X-ray binaries. He is also interested in population study of ultra-luminous X-ray sources.
