Hana Müllerová from the Centre for Climate Law and Sustainability Studies spoke on 22 June 2022 in the podcast of Czech Radio “Vinohradska 12” with the title "The Czech Republic lacks a climate ministry. We must coordinate the fight against climate change, expert urges" (the interview was in Czech). The main topic of the interview was the outcome of the first instance court proceedings in the first Czech climate litigation, decided on 15 June 2022 by the Municipal Court in Prague, largely in favour of the plaintiffs. This landmark verdict may become a milestone in the Czech government's approach to climate policy and emissions reduction in the Czech Republic to date. The court ruled that four Czech ministries (of environment, industry, transport and agriculture) violated the plaintiffs' rights by their existing policies and emissions reduction measures that were insufficient to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and EU law, namely to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030. The podcast episode is available to listen to on podcast platforms or on the Czech Radio website, where there is also a transcript in Czech.
