Accreting Black Holes in the new era of X-ray polarimetry missions
An EXPRO project (excellence in research, 2021-2025) focusing on the development of new relativistic models to compute polarimetric, timing and spectral properties of emission from black hole accretion disk and its corona, and on interpreting data acquired with the new mission IXPE and for scientific preparations of planned missions eXTP and Athena. More on the project webpage.
Gravitational waves, black holes and fundamental physics
European cooperation in science and technology: http://www.cost.eu/COST_Actions/ca/CA16104 (2017-2021)
Albert Einstein Center for Gravitation and Astrophysics
Our group participates in activities of the Albert Einstein Center for Gravitation and Astrophysics (CTA, 2014–2018).
Spectral and temporal characteristisctics of cosmic black holes
A collaboration project between ASU and MIT Kavli Institute funded during period 2014-2016 that allows our team and the MIT team to work on hot astrophysical topics connected with black-hole accretion.
Probing Strong Gravity by Black Holes Across the Range of Masses
This five year EU-FP7 project brings together scientists from seven top European research institutions and universities, including the Astronomical Institute in Prague, who are experts in black-hole astrophysics (2013–2017). More on the project webpage.
Exploring fundamental physics with compact stars
European cooperation in science and technology: COST Action MP1304 (2013–2017).
Polarisation as a tool to study Solar system and beyond
European cooperation in science and technology: COST Action MP1104 (2012–2015).
Black Holes in a Violent Universe
European cooperation in science and technology: COST Action MP0905 (2010–2014).
Active galactic nuclei and Galactic black holes from XMM-Newton
European Space Agency research project (PECS, 2007–2011). Our goal in this project is to further develop and extend mainly theoretical modeling of radiation processes near accreting black holes.
Center for Theoretical Astrophysics
Our group participates in activities of the Center for Theoretical Astrophysics (CTA, 2006–2010). Mission of CTA is to conduct a top-level research in the field of physics of compact objects, physics of galaxies, and the cosmic environment. We also carry out graduate teaching in these subjects.
