Among the different types of lasers, fiber lasers are, both as research and commercially, the youngest, yet the fast growing type of laser. This action is the first arena where experts in fundamental material science, established laser and component groups, fiber laser manufacturers and end-users are be able to actively interact, share know-how and focus on common goals. www.aflaser.eu
The project team of the Institute of Photonics and Electronics is active mainly in collaboration on research of new rare-earth doped materials (we have been pioneering the methods of ceramic-nanoparticle doping), numerical modelling of double-clad fiber devices and in research and applications of novel components for pulsed fiber based sources at wavelength around 2 micrometers. Within the project, we are organizing the International Training School on Fiber lasers & Optical Fiber Technology (see web page here).

The international cooperation is supported by the European Union, project COST MP1401 "Advanced fibre laser and coherent source as tools for society, manufacturing and lifescience" and by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, project COST CZ LD15122 "Novel materials and components for advanced fiber lasers" (COFILA).

IPE carries out fundamental and applied research in the scientific fields of photonics, optoelectronics and electronics. In these fields, IPE generates new knowledge and develops new technologies.
